TRIEXPERT TRIPrague – try Prague in three different ways: in the water, on bike, and on foot!
Prague is one of the most beautiful world cities located in the heart of Europe. Many tourists from around the world have been to Prague and consider it to be one of the top cities in Europe; others only dream about their visit. And we natives are proud that our Czech Republic has such a beautiful capital. Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square- all create an enduring impression in every heart, whether tourists or natives.
We have an unusual opportunity to experience Prague through TRIEXPERT TRIPrague, a triathlon which takes place in the historic center of Prague, on July 30, 2016. This is the second year of the international triathlon race comprised of half distance of 1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling, 21 km run, which is open to experienced triathletes. Athletes who choose not to participate in the triathlon can experience the atmosphere in the shorter version of the race MINI TRI, which consists of a 0.38 km swim, 18 km bike and 4.2 km run. Alternatively athletes can participate in the relay race. The sport weekend will offer a race for children called aquathlon (swimming - running), there will also be an expo full of interesting products and services from the world of sport. Visitors will also be able to have their bike pedaling technique checked and an analysis of their step while running as well as other functional abilities to evaluate their current state of health.
The main race is the length of a half Ironman and will start on Saturday at 1 pm under the Legion Bridge (Most Legií). Triathletes will swim 1.9 kilometers in the river Vltava around the Střelecký island overlooking the National Theatre and other beautiful parts of the city. The water temperature is normally around 16 -19 degrees Celsius. The big attraction will be the transition T1, which is located on one of the historic bridges in the city center with views of Prague Castle. The cycling part is composed of three laps leading from Prague center toward Jíloviště and then back to the center. The track is flat with one pitch and will be fully closed. The total elevation is 590 m. The final run will take place in the historic center of Prague and will consist of four 5.25 km laps and ends at the Legion Bridge (Most Legií). The awards ceremony, along with the accompanying program and concert, will take place on Střelecký island.
The race TRIEXPERT TRIPrague has become one of the main activities of the project Prague - European Capital of Sport in 2016. Here is the opinion of ex professional triathlete and Sports Director of the Czech Triathlon Association, Lenka Kovářová, who also shares her experience at universities to future athletes: "Compared to last year, we improved many things and we believe that the second edition will be even better and more appealing. It will be a feast for Triathlon enthusiasts and so I would like to invite you to the biggest triathlon event organized by the Czech Triathlon Association. Additionally, it will be the biggest sporting event in Prague, which will be held just before the Olympics. We believe that next year TRIEXPERT TRIPrague could be part of a prestigious international series.”
In last year's first edition, the race was won by world-renowned triathlete Filip Ospalý, who will also be present this year along with other famous athletes like Peter Vabroušek, Radka Vodičková and other interesting guests from abroad.
We asked last year’s winner his opinion about the race TRIEXPERT TRIPrague and what he would like to say to athletes who are thinking possibly participating: “Why participate in Tri Expert TRI Prague 30th July? Because visiting Prague is something special. Of course, don’t come just by yourself, bring your family and friends! Enjoy the triathlon and visit the most famous monuments of the capital - the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, St.Vitus Cathedral, the Golden Lane, the Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square, Kampa and many others. The race takes place at Střelcký Island. The swimming takes place in the river Vltava; it is then followed by 3 laps of cycling along the Strakonice motorway uder hill Cukrák - the hiking portion continues up the hill and then running along the river, past the National Theatre to the Legion Bridge (Most Legií). Accompanying program the day before is the children’s aquatlon. There will also be pasta party, an expo and public concert on the island with the band Tap Tap. The day after the race will involve the cultural sights of Prague. Make sure you don’t miss this! I myself did this race last year, in it’s first year, and I won it. It is a beautiful race in an even more beautiful environment. I highly recommend it!''
Will we see you at TRIEXPERT TRIPrague? Our team Tri Fun Fit will not only cheer on the athletes, but also participate in the race! you can meet us also in expo area of the race! Registration ends July 29, 2016 online at www.triprague.cz.
