Boulder - Mecca of the Triathlon
Guilherme trains and live in Boulder, Colorado under the guidance of multiple time IM Champion Michael Lovato. He focus on long course distance racing and for the 2016 season just around the corner, his eyes are all on the full (Ironman) distance. Even tough he wasn't born in Italy, he choosed to represent his italians roots, heritage from his mum's family from Alghero, Sardegna! He's proud to call himself italian and race for the country!
Situated at the base of Rocky Mountains at 5430ft (1600m) in the american state of Colorado, Boulder is known for its friendly population, miles and miles of bike paths that connect the whole town making it one of the most bike friendly cities in the world and endless trails that makes any runner think they're in paradide. More than that, it's probably the world's capital for endurance sports.
Every year after the snow goes away, hundreds of professional athletes, age groupers and sports enthusiastics come to town to see with their own eyes what's Boulder buzz is all about! It'very probably you will be swimming in the same pool and a triathlon world champion or that you will cross path with olympians in the citie's many trails while jogging!
Besides the benefits of altitude training, Boulder offer safe and well paved roads with options to go to high altitude (3000+m) or stay at 1600m and ride on the flats, several pools with group coached sessions, easy acess to tracks and also to many of the best physioteraphists, massage teraphists and coaches.
The triathlon "industry" is also very present with many big tri companies such as Newton Running, Pearl Izumi, Ceramic Speed and Scratch Labs being based in Boulder.
Even tough the winters can be a bit rough some years, Boulder has 300+ sunny days a year and many world class athletes have made it their home year round so they can focus exclusively in their training and take advantage of the incredible facilities Boulder has to offer!
I can call myself very fortunate to have the opportunity to train and live here supported by this amazing athletic community!
See you at the races!
Be Tri, have Fun and be Fit!
